Update: The web site, included below, that announced a Boykins campaign for mayor was yanked down. Local TV news reports have Boykins “considering” a mayoral run.

On Sunday, twitter users, including the Houston Chronicle’s Jasper Scherer, circulated what appears to be a campaign website for Houston mayor by city council member Dwight Boykins. The site says “announcing run for Houston mayor” at the Wortham Theater with a time “TBD.”

The Texas Signal has reached out to confirm the validity of the web site and campaign announcement. A Boykins run has been rumored for months.

Current Mayor Sylvester Turner, a Democrat, is running for re-election in November. Conservatives challenging the mayor include Tony Buzbee and Bill King.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
