Joe Biden announced as latest Texas Dems convention guest

Former Vice President Joe Biden will be joining House Speaker Nancy Pelosi next week at the 2020 Texas Democratic Convention.

Biden will be among those invited to speak at the convention. Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), former Congressman Beto O’Rourke, Sens. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Obama-era housing chief Julián Castro are also attending as guest speakers.

The week-long virtual convention will begin next week and will see the selection of delegates to attend the Democratic National Convention in August. It will also be an opportunity for members to vote on party platform and leadership.

“Texas is the biggest battleground state in the country,” Texas Democrats said in a statement. “With Joe Biden at the top of the ticket, Texas Democrats will help him win the White House. This is our moment.”
