On Monday former vice president Joe Biden includes Texas in the litany of southern states he says he could win, should Biden be the Democratic nominee for president.
“I plan on campaigning in the South,” Biden said on Monday said at the Poor People’s Campaign forum in Washington.
“If I’m your nominee I’m winning Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, believe it or not, and I believe we can win Texas and Florida. Look at the polling there now … I have no intention of walking away.”
A Quinnipiac University poll shows Biden beating Trump in Texas by four points, 48 percent to 44 percent.
Texas Tribune/University of Texas polling released Monday shows Trump is 50-50 in the Lone Star State.
The Tribune poll also reveal Biden as Texas Democrats top pick for president, with Beto O’Rourke coming in second.
