Rep. Al Green of Houston suffered a setback in his years-long campaign to begin impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump.
On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted 332-95 to table Green’s resolution.
It’s the third time House members have killed a resolution introduced by Green to impeach Trump. He has co-sponsored other unsuccessful attempts in the past as well.
Green’s attempt to remove the president from office comes a day after House members voted to condemn a series of racist tweets by Trump, which told four congress women of color to go back to their own countries.
“We have to punish the President and impeachment is the means by which he can be punished,” Green said a C-SPAN appearance prior to the vote. “We ought to impeach this President for his bigotry.”
