About Us

Who We Are

Welcome to the Texas Signal Media Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization devoted to creating honest public interest reporting by and for the new Texas majority. An outgrowth of one of the largest media companies in Texas, our nonprofit newsroom is establishing the foundation of a new and lasting media ecosystem for Texans.

Guided by our mission, we will focus on several reporting areas: health care, the environment, education, culture, and more. In many ways, Texas is the epicenter of all these concerns. We are proud that Texas Signal is cultivating a new generation of reporters for in-depth and introspective coverage. Like our readers, the Texas Signal newsroom reflects the great diversity of the state of Texas.

We will be particularly aiming to reach young Texans, communities of color, women, and Spanish-speaking communities through our content. We also have a free weekly newsletter that you can enjoy for a condensed recap of our stories.

Supporting Signal

As a nonprofit newsroom that is committed to ensuring that our services are free to all Texans (and everybody else who reads and shares our work), we are dependent upon the generosity of individuals and institutions. For just $25 a year you can become a member of our TSMF family. We also offer other tiers of giving that go straight to our mission of producing quality independent journalism.

Your generous gift, of any amount, goes directly to supporting our nonprofit newsroom. While we appreciate any amount of giving, we also understand the constrictions for many in Texas. The Texas Signal Media Foundation is committed to keeping all our content free. We will never hide behind a paywall. Our weekly newsletter also remains free.

The North Main Street Fund is the 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor of the Texas Signal Media Foundation. As such an entity, your donation may be eligible for tax deductions to the fullest extent allowed by the law. Their tax identification number is 82-2861559.

Our Commitment To Values And Ethics

The Texas Signal Media Foundation is devoted to delivering honest reporting. A state as big and diverse as Texas deserves a newsroom that values independent and excellent quality journalism. All of our reporting will be rooted in truth-telling that is free of bias and preconceptions. Our journalists will follow a strict code of ethics so that our newsroom can remain as transparent as possible.
