Early voting in the Texas runoff election started Monday, May 18 and goes until Friday, May 22. Election Day is Tuesday, May 26.

The big-name matchup is between incumbent Senator John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The final weeks of their campaign have turned particularly bitter. Paxton’s latest ad refers to the Texas Senator as “Caliphate Cornyn,” alleging he’s weak on Sharia law. Meanwhile, Cornyn and his allies have leaned on previous transgressions from the Texas Attorney General, who was impeached in the Texas House, for their closing statement.

The showdown between Paxton and Cornyn has generated headlines, but there’s still plenty of other races to watch. There are runoff races in both the Republican and Democratic fields for Attorney General. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick opted to endorse State Senator Mayes Middleton over Congressman Chip Roy in the Republican race. On the Democratic ticket, former Galveston Mayor is taking on State Senator Nathan Johnson.

There’s also several congressional races to note. In Houston, all eyes will be on the race between Christian Menefee and Al Green, who was redistricted out of his previous seat. Over the weekend, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett campaigned with Menefee. That’s not her only endorsement. In the redrawn TX-33 district, Crockett has backed former Rep. Colin Allred over current Congresswoman Julie Johnson, who has the support of the Democratic House Leadership.

Early voting goes until Friday, May 22 and Election Day is Tuesday, May 26.
